MEE Net aims to address the growing problem of unsustainable large-scale energy infrastructure in the Mekong region by:

  • Building capacity among energy and environmental NGOs and civil society in the Mekong countries on energy policy analysis;
  • Creating and fostering a network of activists and researchers in Mekong countries working to facilitate information and strategy exchanges and promote solidarity;
  • Facilitating a debate on large‐scale energy infrastructure project planning by moving the debates “upstream” through energy policy analysis and advocacy;
  • Formulating policy recommendations at national and regional levels and coordinating campaign actions

We work towards raising awareness and engagement of the general public in regards to the complex issues and impacts of the rapidly growing development of the Mekong energy sector. We strive towards more transparency and accountability in the energy sector from both the private and public sector. We aspire for a sustainable energy development in the Mekong region that is truly centered on the needs of the people, rather than profit.

"MEE Net's vision is to that ensure energy development in the Mekong region is democratic, sustainable, transparent, economically rational, environmentally sound and socially just"
